FRENCH CANCAN -

THE SPIRIT OF PARIS

A vibrant tribute to Jacques Offenbach.

The story is simple: two men who visit Paris seek pleasure in all of its forms in a brothel. Each encounter is an excuse to sing and dance, celebrating the love and the Paris of the past.

The night shows different facets of the romance of Paris from the Belle Époque to the present, contrasting plays which range from popular modern songs to operetta by Offenbach. Similarly the French Cancan is reinvented through the most varied rhythms, through tango, belly dancing, eletromusic, among others.

Régis Mengus stands out notably in this crossing of genres, directed by Jacques Duparc, in March / April 2013
