PASSIONNÉMENT - ANDRÉ MESSAGER

 

This operetta in three acts, with André Messager's music, Régis Mengus interprets, Robert Perceval sometimes seductive, sometimes passionate, irresistible and energetic. With his broad and Apollonian voice, making his interpretation, a sideshow. Opera of Tours (December / 2013)

 

Act 1

          

At the luxury yacht, are William Stevenson, American businessman, his wife Ketty, Julia his maid and Captain Harris, near the French coast. Stevenson came to France to buy a property of Robert Perceval, which hides an oil field. Very authoritarian, reported to the team that the stopover in Trouville will not result in any deviation from American law of drinks, alcohol prohibition. To avoid any risk of adventure, Ketty will appear before the French with a white wig and blue glasses.

          

The boat docks at Trouville, Robert Perceval comes in the morning. Hélène Le Barrois, his mistress, saw him boarding and feared an encounter. She quickly reassures to discover that Ketty is an elderly woman who she can trust. Stevenson gets Perceval who agrees to sell the land at a price established by the entrepreneur, and proposes to conclude the agreement the next day, at a dinner. Robert comes across Ketty - she had no time to put the old lady clothes - as he prepares to leave the ship. He falls for her, who presents as Margaret Stevenson's niece.

 

Act 2

          

Hélène, who does not understand the apathy of her lover, she asks Ketty to discover Robert's secret. She notes that the French are madly in love with Margaret. Julia announces that the yacht was damaged by a fishing boat. The incident makes Perceval keep Americans at home during the night. When Stevenson and Perceval are one step closer to signing the contract, the French Receives Margaret's note about the real value of the land, and decides to postpone the sale. Robert is more passionate than ever by his beautiful American. Ketty appears to him as Margaret And They spend the night together.

 

Act 3

        

Stevenson, after spent the night in a casino, comes back elated. Drunk, he reveals to Robert the real value of his land. When he discovers that his wife is the supposed niece, whom Robert has just asked to marry him, he decides to divorce so that they may marry. He gets enchanted when discovers Julia's beauty, while they  are fleeing.
